All for One and One for Vol.
We are hundreds of students who imagine a better UT. Whether they are RA's, in Greek Life, involved in the Pride Center, SGA, CEB, URHC, or other student organizations on campus, our members all imagine a UT with a long-term alcohol policy, affordable food & student health services, and a better student life. Ovi is running for President, Haley for Vice President, and John Calvin for Board of Trustee Representative. But it's not just about our top candidates. We don't just have the best candidates, we have the best team of the biggest and most diverse SGA campaign in recent history.
We are pushing for a lot, I'd encourage everyone to check out our social media for more details. We want to push UT to become a "damp campus", with a four part over five years. We want to redirect student funds to the Student Health Center to fund two STI tests per year, distribute menstrual products at a reduced cost around campus, and increase the availability of counseling services for students. We also want to create a mobile Vol Card, and work with UT Dining and UT Housing to better meet the needs of food and housing insecure students.
The Volunteer Spirit.
We believe in the Volunteer creed, in bearing the torch to give light to others. Vols are there for each other, even when it isn't easy or convenient. And campaigning, we see that volunteer spirit every day, in each UT students face walking around campus. We hope to bring that same spirit to SGA.
Who Are We?
Our Presidential candidate, Ovi Kabir, has been involved in a lot. From Housing to Greek life to Intramural Sports, Ovi has been involved in every aspect of campus. But more important than that, he will tell you, is the year 1969. 1969 was the last time that UT has a person of color as their Student Body President. Same for Haley, who has been involved in multicultural Greek Life, diversity education, the Student Government Association, and more, UT has never had a women of color as their Vice President. We felt like it was time for a change.
